Laura Whitmore, 41, and her husband Iain Stirling, 38, have welcomed their second child, announcing the joyful news on Instagram on Wednesday. Sharing a close-up of their baby’s tiny hand against Laura’s chest, the couple revealed that the newborn arrived unexpectedly early, a month ago.
Laura wrote: “We welcomed the most precious baby last month, unexpectedly early and with dramatic flair (wouldn’t expect anything else). I had made a 5-hour birthing playlist this time… only played about 3 songs – ended up using it post birth. Been enjoying baby smells, lack of sleep, and scrumptious hands and wrists.”
The couple are already parents to Stevie Ré, five, and confirmed the pregnancy back in February. Iain shared an adorable social media post showing a little cardigan and matching booties, labeled “Littlest living legend,” with a note: “Say hello to our newest living legend. I always wanted someone in the house who would stay up late and watch the World Cup with me. But this feels a little excessive.”
Fellow celebrities quickly congratulated the couple, including Emily Atack, Amanda Abbington, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, flooding the comments with love and good wishes.
Back in May, Laura celebrated both her birthday and baby shower with an exuberant night of karaoke, playful games, and drag performers at BAM Karaoke Box UK. She shared glimpses of the fun, showing off her baby bump in a tight white top and lace trousers, and captioned her Instagram post: “BIRTH day with gladly no other surprise births! So grateful to my gorgeous friends for the most fun, insane birthday baby shower absolute shenanigans!”
Laura and Iain have expressed the challenges of navigating parenthood in today’s digital world. Speaking to The Standard, Laura said: “Having a child definitely changes your priorities and makes you more sensitive to certain subjects. The online world is constantly evolving, and I know I’ll need to stay vigilant to protect our children as they grow.”
The couple previously welcomed Stevie Ré in March 2021 and have been fiercely private about their family life, rarely sharing photos of their children.
