💥 Heart-Wrenching Confession: EastEnders star Luisa Bradshaw-White has revealed a deeply personal battle with mental illness that saw her hospitalized in a psychiatric ward, where she “nearly didn’t survive.” In an emotional Instagram post, the 51-year-old actress, known for her role as Tina Carter on the soap, shared her journey toward recovery.

After her character’s shocking death on EastEnders in 2020, Luisa has bravely opened up about her struggles with “severe bipolar disorder” and a dangerous eating disorder. Now, she reveals how she has found peace and a new purpose in her life after stepping away from fame to embrace “musical journeys” and self-expression through music.
Alongside a selfie, she penned: “I used to be an actor, so I had a place to put those big feelings, but it didn’t feel like where I was supposed to be. I also tried to suppress those big feelings, and that led to a serious mental illness, psychiatric hospitals, and something I nearly didn’t survive. I now feel like I have found my space in the world.”
Luisa continued to reflect on how embracing her emotions has brought healing: “I don’t try to hide my big feelings. I know they are powerful indicators for how to live my life fully. When I go deep into these feelings, with love and curiosity, I emerge with new wisdom and self-love.”
The actress now creates music for freeform dance and Breathwork ceremonies, sharing her personal experiences with others: “I create waves of music to help me express everything I feel about life and the life I have lived. The best part of my life now is that I’ve found people like me who want to come and dance, breathe, and feel all this too.”
In a previous post, Luisa opened up about her struggles with her emotions, admitting, “I cry every day. I can’t stop.” She explained how her emotional growth has allowed her to find beauty in both the pain and joy of life, writing, “I cry to move the energy. I cry because life is so beautiful. I cry because I get to be this free, this sovereign in this lifetime.”
Her candid posts have received an outpouring of support from fans, many of whom shared their own experiences of feeling deeply. One wrote, “I can relate to this so much. I tend to feel everything so much more intensely than anyone I know. It’s extremely overwhelming, but I feel like it’s our power.”
Luisa, who began her acting career in 1988 with A Friendship in Vienna, also appeared in Grange Hill, The Bill, and Birds of a Feather. She became a regular on Holby City from 2001 to 2005 before landing her iconic role in EastEnders.
