Monty Don, the beloved Gardeners’ World star, has been left heartbroken following the death of his beloved dog, Peggy. The 70-year-old star shared the tragic news on Instagram, revealing that his loyal companion passed away just shy of her 16th birthday. “She was an old lady and went as she had lived—gently and without fuss,” Monty wrote, his words dripping with emotion.
Fans of the show know Peggy well, as she often appeared alongside Monty on screen, and her passing has left a hole in many hearts. In his tribute, Monty described Peggy as “eccentric, quirky, infinitely gentle and loving,” a testament to the special bond they shared.
Monty went on to reflect on his grief, sharing that Peggy is now buried beside his other dogs, Nigel and Nell, in the coppice. With each pet, Monty has experienced a unique kind of love and loss. He continued, “She will be missed terribly,” and the outpouring of support from his fans and fellow gardeners is a testament to the impact Peggy had.
