In an exclusive interview, Made in Chelsea star Ollie Locke has opened up about the devastating financial toll of his journey to fatherhood, revealing he spent a staggering £500,000 on IVF and surrogacy. Despite enduring six heartbreaking miscarriages, Ollie and his husband Gareth, both 39, never gave up on their dream of becoming parents — but the cost was more than they ever imagined.
Ollie shared the emotional rollercoaster of the couple’s struggle, which also saw them move into a £4 million Chelsea home before spiraling into massive debt, including £45,000 in unpaid rent. “I’ve been the most depressed I’ve ever been,” Ollie confessed, overwhelmed by financial pressure and the loss of friendships.
Their twins, born prematurely, require costly speech therapy and developmental support, adding even more strain. With the twins still nonverbal, Ollie and Gareth have been shelling out £1,000 per week on specialized care. The emotional toll is real, and Ollie admits: “This has pushed me to have a breakdown.”
But despite the turmoil, the couple is determined to press forward. “We wanted this family so badly,” Ollie says. And with a new, more humble home and a fresh perspective on life, they are ready for the next chapter—one focused on family, love, and recovery.
Their story is a powerful reminder that even behind the glamour, the reality of starting a family can be a difficult and costly journey.
