Peter Andre is on a mission to claim his fourth No.1 hit after releasing his first new music in 11 years. The 53-year-old singer has returned with a bang, dropping his 12th album Legacy – and it seems that he may soon have some competition, as his son Junior, 20, is already making waves in the music industry.

Back in 2022, Junior released his debut single Slide, which hit No1 in the UK's iTunes pop chart, while his follow-up track Only One also bagged the top spot a year later

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Mail, Peter shared his ambition to top the charts once again. “I won’t stop, whether it’s this album, the next album, or the one after that. I won’t stop until I get a No.1 now because that’s my goal,” he said.

Peter, who rose to fame in the 90s with his iconic hit Mysterious Girl, also opened up about the possibility of collaborating with his eldest son, Junior. “When he’s ready, he’s brilliant,” Peter said, hinting at the potential for a father-son collaboration in the future.

Junior, who is following in his father’s footsteps, has already had success with his music. In 2022, his debut single Slide reached No.1 on the UK iTunes pop chart, and his follow-up single Only One also hit the top spot the following year.

While Peter is proud of Junior’s success, he gave some advice to his son when he first started recording at the age of 15: “You have to be a songwriter. It’s like learning a trade. You can always write for other people, even if it doesn’t work out for yourself or if you don’t want to sing anymore.”

Peter continued to praise Junior’s talent, saying, “He’s written well over 200 songs. He’s such an incredible talent, both singing and rapping. My daughter Princess has an incredible voice, but I’m not really sure what she wants to do on that side of things. But Junior definitely, I think watch this space.”

Meanwhile, Peter’s own music career is thriving again. Legacy, his 13-track album, features 10 of his classic hits re-imagined and remastered, alongside three new tracks – Rock You Right, Close To You, featuring Oritsé Williams, and Island Girl. The album also includes collaborations with Montell Jordan, Brian McKnight, Kenny Thomas, Lady Leshurr, Bubbla Ranx, and Oritsé Williams.

Peter shared how his children have reacted to his new music. “Millie, my 12-year-old daughter, had Flava, which was No.1 in 1996, on her playlist, the original. So I’ve played her the new version, and because I’ve changed it a little bit, she loves it!”

While Peter’s older children, Princess and Junior, have been known to the public through their appearances on his reality shows with ex-wife Katie Price, Peter and his wife Emily have kept their younger children, Millie, Theo, and Arabella, out of the limelight. However, Peter revealed that they have been considering sharing more of their family life as their children grow older.

“In a few years, Millie is going to want to show her face,” Peter mused. “It’s not going to be long before that happens. We’ve thought about doing a family podcast, a YouTube channel… it’d be hard to do that now, but in a couple of years, maybe.”

Peter is also excited about his upcoming Legacy tour. “I haven’t done my own tour for what, 10 years? It’s been other shows, a bit of acting, a bit of music, and presenting. We do gigs all over the world, but I haven’t done my own tour, and that’s what I’m looking forward to,” he said. “I’m so excited about the album. So learn the lyrics, because you’re going to be singing every one of them with me on tour.”

As for the possibility of a reunion with The Saturdays, the girl group he was a part of, Peter revealed that he and his former bandmates still have a group chat. “We still have The Saturdays’ WhatsApp group, and everyone is still in it,” he said, hinting at the possibility of a reunion in the future.

Peter also admitted that he hasn’t discussed the band’s return, but it’s clear that the idea is on everyone’s minds. “We just all want to be together, the five of us,” he said. “So that’s in the works. But apart from that, we haven’t discussed getting [the band] back.”

The band may not have a reunion on the cards yet, but for Peter, his primary focus is on Legacy and his upcoming tour. “There’s always a chance it will happen, but I just don’t know when,” he said. “I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t.”

With his new album out and his sights set on another No.1, Peter Andre’s music career is truly enjoying a second wind. Legacy is available for purchase, download, and streaming now.
