Rylan Clark has left fans scratching their heads after calling himself a “married man”—less than a year after revealing his relationship with fairground worker Kennedy Bates, 47.

The 37-year-old presenter, alongside fellow Eurovision commentator Angela Scanlon, 42, joined Thursday’s This Morning from Vienna via video call. During the chat with hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, Rylan briefly referenced his relationship status, sparking immediate speculation.

Asked by Cat if he’d been keeping up his “good behavior,” Rylan joked about meeting royalty and then added: “Look, I’m behaving now. Yeah… I’m a married man, very happy… I haven’t even been out this year. That’s God’s honest truth.”
Ben paused: “Wait, you just said you were a married man, Rylan. Has something happened while you’ve been in Vienna that we need to know?”

Rylan laughed it off: “Not married, just very happy, very content. Living my fairground life.”
Rylan publicly confirmed his romance with Kennedy last August. Kennedy, who runs Billy Bates & Sons funfair in Leicestershire, joined Rylan on a romantic Maldives getaway in January. Snaps from their luxurious trip showed them soaking up the sun, drawing hearts in sunscreen, and holding hands along the pristine beach.
Fans and celebrity friends were thrilled to see Rylan smiling again, five years after his divorce from ex Dan Neal in 2021, which followed Rylan admitting he’d been unfaithful.
Since going public, Rylan and Kennedy have discussed starting a family, with the TV star revealing on Louis Theroux’s How To Be In Love podcast that both are eager to take that next step together.
Whether the “married man” comment was a playful tease or hint at a future announcement remains a mystery—but one thing is clear: Rylan is happier than ever.
