The View’s Sara Haines Welcomes Daughter Sandra Grace – You Won’t Believe Her Name’s Special Connection!

Sara Haines, beloved co-host of The View, is officially a mother of two after welcoming her second child on Saturday, December 23rd, in New York City. The little bundle of joy, named Sandra Grace Shifrin, arrived at 3:23 a.m., weighing 7 lbs., 2 oz. and was named in honor of Haines’ mother. Haines and her husband, Max Shifrin, already share a son, 21-month-old Alec.

Sara couldn’t contain her excitement, sharing a sweet message on Instagram: “She’s here!!! Today we met our little Christmas package — Sandra Grace Shifrin (named after my mom),” she wrote. “She weighed in at a cool 7 pounds, 2 ounces. We can’t decide who she looks like, but we’ll keep her anyway ;)” Max also shared the first photos of their daughter, writing, “Presenting Sandra Grace Shifrin. Came out without a hitch at 3:23 this morning thanks to Mama’s hard work. Merry Christmas all!”

Sara, 40, had first shared the news of her pregnancy on The View back in June. She revealed how hard it was to keep the secret, joking that anyone in the studio audience probably already knew. “I have to eat through the commercial breaks and they bring me rice crackers and ginger ale,” Haines shared with PEOPLE. “Nothing overrides the nausea.”

Interestingly, Sara’s cravings this time around were different from when she was pregnant with Alec. “Pizza and bagels were my go-to foods with Alec,” she said. “I crave weird things [now]. Rice crackers have saved me and sour candies have helped.”

Another major difference? The sex of the baby! Sara had hoped for a girl, but her husband Max had his reservations. “Max is a little scared, I think,” she admitted. While Sara grew up with two sisters and felt confident about the female experience, Max had mostly male relatives. “He’s feeling a bit nervous about how to parent a little girl,” Sara said. “Max has been surrounded by mostly male relatives. He has a brother, all male cousins and only nephews.”
