TV presenter Laura Woods has shocked fans after revealing the details of a freak accident that left her with serious injuries. The award-winning sports host was seen out in public with a bandage on her face, walking her dog after the terrifying incident that forced her to pull out of her coverage of the Fury vs Usyk fight.

The 36-year-old presenter, who had been gearing up to host the high-profile boxing match, was injured when she accidentally smashed a glass lampshade above her head, causing it to shatter and cut her face and arm. The injury left Woods with deep cuts surrounding her eye and a large gash on her arm, leading to emergency surgery during her holiday with boyfriend Adam Collard.

Speaking on social media, Woods explained what had happened: “I swung a pillow and hit a large glass lampshade hanging from the ceiling above me, which shattered and cut my face and arms, but luckily missed my eye,” she revealed.

Despite the traumatic incident, Woods has been recovering and was seen out walking her dog, Lu, earlier this week. While her injuries have improved significantly, she still wore a bandage under her right eye during the outing, which she paired with a beanie, grey jumper, coat, black joggers, and white trainers for the walk.

Woods took to Instagram to thank those who had supported her during her recovery, including her fiancé Adam Collard, her agents, and the medical professionals who had provided urgent care. “I want to say a big thank you to Adam, for being my hero that day, acting quickly and not leaving my side since,” Woods said. “To my agents Alex and Matthew at CAA who found the best help immediately, and to Dr. Yannis Alexandrides and his team for working magic to reduce the damage.”

Woods also shared how she has been feeling since the accident: “It was a hell of a shock and I’ve been a bit sad, but I’m feeling very lucky it wasn’t worse. So a big thanks to my eyebrow too, for taking the brunt of it.” Despite the setback, Woods is expected to be back on screen soon, as she is part of ITV’s presenting team for Euro 2024, and could appear for the Champions League final on June 1.
The star also took a moment to express her regret for not being able to cover the fight in Riyadh as planned, adding, “I’m gutted I can’t cover the fight, but wishing the brilliant TNT boxing team all the best.”
