More than two years after the heartbreaking loss of her husband Derek Draper, Kate Garraway appears to be embracing a new chapter in life—and it’s bringing plenty of smiles.
The Good Morning Britain presenter recently enjoyed her first holiday with economist and broadcaster Liam Halligan, marking another significant step in their growing relationship.
According to reports, Liam invited Kate to join him on a work trip to Italy, giving the couple the chance to spend some quiet time together while enjoying the country’s famous food and scenery. Friends say the getaway was intentionally low-key, allowing them to relax away from the spotlight.
Kate and Liam have reportedly been dating for around three months, although their friendship stretches back more than two decades. Liam also knew Kate’s late husband, Derek Draper, through his work as a political commentator, making their bond one built on years of mutual respect before it turned romantic.
The pair first sparked dating speculation after they were seen together in Essex earlier this year, and they later appeared close while Kate supported Liam during the Duchenne Dash charity cycling event to Paris.
Speaking recently, Liam admitted there is a “definite spark” between them. He said that despite working in different areas of the media, they share a similar sense of humour and have grown closer after both unexpectedly finding themselves single in recent years.
Kate has not publicly discussed the relationship, but those close to her say it has been heartwarming to see her smiling again after the immense challenges she faced during Derek’s long illness and his passing in January 2024.
While she continues to cherish Derek’s memory, friends believe this new relationship is helping her rediscover happiness—and many fans are delighted to see her taking positive steps toward a brighter future.
