After nearly two decades of tension, Gordon Ramsay has finally ended his 16-year feud with former protégé Marcus Wareing. The pair are now set to join forces on a brand-new BBC Two daytime cookery series, reigniting their once-close partnership in front of the cameras.

The chefs’ relationship was famously fiery. Marcus, 53, once admitted he “hoped never to speak to Gordon for the rest of my life,” while Ramsay, 59, oversaw a rollercoaster of highs and lows as mentor and friend. Their friendship began when Marcus worked as sous chef at Ramsay’s Aubergine restaurant, eventually leading to a joint venture, Pétrus, in 1999, earning two Michelin stars — yet setting the stage for years of legal battles and a bitter split.
Despite their explosive history, the chefs buried the hatchet last year, sharing an amicable dinner and posting a photograph together in a mystery kitchen on social media. Now, the pair are taking it one step further, with Marcus as host and Gordon producing the new series.
Marcus told The Sun: “This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside Gordon again. It’s been many years since we last shared a kitchen, and I can’t wait to get started.” Ramsay added: “The show combines fantastic home cooking with extraordinary human stories and celebrates the kitchen as the heart of every home.”
Their bond was once so strong that Gordon was best man at Marcus’ wedding in 2000 and godfather to his eldest child. Marcus reflected on their turbulent years: “It was me who started it… I no longer wanted to be kept in a corner, so I spoke up. And, well, it got nasty.”
The spat nearly escalated to physical violence, with Marcus describing one Saturday night confrontation as “b***dy close.” Yet he now believes their feud was ultimately beneficial: “It was the best thing that ever happened to both of us. It pushed me to find another ambition, another goal.”
Having retired from the restaurant scene last year, Marcus remains a familiar face as a judge on BBC’s MasterChef: The Professionals. Fans are now eagerly anticipating the reunion of two of Britain’s most famous chefs — and the drama, stories, and surprises their new show promises to bring.
