Anthony Head, the beloved actor known for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Ted Lasso, has died peacefully at the age of 72 due to complications from pneumonia — just six months after the heartbreaking loss of his long-term partner, Sarah Fisher.
The actor’s daughters, Emily and Daisy Head, shared a deeply moving tribute:

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our extraordinary father, Anthony Head. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. It has been, and forever will be, an honour to be his daughters and witness the incredible impact he and his work have had on so many.”

Anthony’s career spanned decades, from his early fame in Nescafe Gold Blend adverts to iconic roles like Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003), King Uther Pendragon in BBC’s Merlin, and football club owner Rupert Mannion in Ted Lasso. His versatility also shone in shows and films like Little Britain, The Iron Lady, Persuasion, The Inbetweeners, and Motherland.

“Her loss was a shock to us all, and no words can capture the hole she has left. She was an extraordinary, kind, and talented mother, and a passionate advocate for animals — running Tilley Farm, a sanctuary for rescued horses, ponies, and donkeys, and supporting the Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary for years.”

Showbusiness runs in the family: Anthony’s brother Murray Head is also an actor and singer, and their father, Seafield Laurence Stewart Murray Head, was a film producer, while their mother, Helen Shingler, was an actress.
The Head family asked for privacy during this difficult time, noting that Anthony’s legacy will live on in his unforgettable roles and the hearts of fans around the world.

“Our grief is immense, but we are comforted knowing his work continues to bring joy and inspiration — even now, when he is no longer with us.”

Anthony Head’s warmth, talent, and dedication to his craft will be remembered by generations of fans and colleagues alike. 💔
